President Obama Likes The Help So Much That...

The Obamas love The Help so much it's played at the White House, not once, but twice. "The president and his wife watched it and loved it," the film's director, Tate Taylor, told me this morning after The Help picked up a slew of Golden Globe nominations.
"Then they had a screening two weeks later that Emma [Stone] and Octavia [Spencer] went to."

With all this success, Taylor must be thinking about a sequel, right?
Wrong!
Help novelist Kathryn Stockett "isn't interested in doing it," Taylor said. "I just think it's not something anyone wants to do."
And it's not like Taylor's not busy. He's currently working on a screenplay adaptation of the novel Peace Like a River. He's set to direct the movie, which will be produced by Brad Pitt!

Jay-Z and Beyoncé

Jay-Z and Beyoncé made it a date night, taking in an early performance of Michael Jackson's The Immortal World Tour at the Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. Later that night, J. hit TAO nightclub sans his baby-bumpin' wife where he sipped champagne in a private VIP booth with pals.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' New York City Double Date

Two weeks after the supercute couple was spotted getting their PDA on while on a romantic getaway in Utah, the twosome hit New York City this weekend where they were caught on a double date.
The Gossip Girl starlet and her hunk grabbed breakfast with Lively's older sister Robyn Lively and her husband Bart Johnson at the Stanton Social on the Lower East Side.
The Green Lantern costars sat in a booth and shared a morning meal of doughnuts, bacon, eggs, biscuits, pierogies and muffins.
According to a source, while there was no lip-locking, Lively and Reynolds were "very cuddly," poking each other, giggling and leaning on each other through breakfast. The foursome spent about two-and-a-half hours eating and chatting before Robyn and Bart left about 10 minutes ahead of Lively and Reynolds.

Lindsay Lohan's Chanel Purse, Passport Stolen in Hawaii

Lindsay Lohan’s purse and belongings have been returned, minus $10,000. TMZ reports the starlet was glad to have her items back and didn’t ask any questions about the money of the person who returned the bag.
Lindsay Lohan seems like she’s been on her best behavior since her last court appearance. She’s been doing all of her court-mandated community service at the morgue, hasn’t been partying wildly, and she even had her trip to Hawaii signed off by her probation officer. But there’s been a bit of a hiccup: Her purse was stolen.
You’re probably thinking, “So what, she probably has about a zillion purses.” And that’s most likely true. But, this $5,000 Chanel purse happened to contain her passport and other form of ID, probation paperwork, and lots and lots of cash, reports TMZ. Yikes.
The purse was reportedly taken while she was at a house party in Laie, Hawaii. She left the designer bag in the car by accident, and when she left the bash two hours later, it was gone.
It’s no fun to be out a bunch of cold hard cash without something to show for it, and we bet she really liked that handbag, but the only major issue could be the ID situation. Lohan’s due back in court in California Wednesday for a hearing about her probation, and if she misses that the judge has the power to revoke her probation and send her back to the slammer. Now, it’s highly unlikely that she won’t figure something out before Wednesday, but this sort of thing has happened before.
If you remember back to May of last year, Lilo missed a very important court date because she claimed someone stole her passport while she was at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Stay tuned.

Just weeks after feeding the hungry at the Los Angeles Mission, the E! reality starlet stepped away from her divorce drama to embark on a humanitarian mission in Haiti, according to People.

And the Kourtney & Kim Take New York star took her mom, Kris Jenner, along for the ride.
While details on Kim's latest charitable venture are being kept under wraps for now, she is reportedly using her fame as a platform to bring more attention to the earthquake-torn country.

Baz Luhrmann's $125 Milllion 'The Great Gatsby' Begins Production in Sydney

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan are joined by Isla Fisher and Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the 3D version of the American classic.
SYDNEY -- The high-octane cast of The Great Gatsby, led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, has gathered in Sydney for the start of production of Baz Lurhmann’s 3D adaptation of the American classic this week.
The two leads will be joined by Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki, Luhrmann said Wednesday.
DiCaprio stars in the title role as Jay Gatsby, with Maguire as Nick Carraway. Joel Edgerton and Carey Mulligan appear as Tom and Daisy Buchanan. Bachchan will play the role of Meyer Wolfsheim, Fisher and Clarke are cast as Myrtle and George Wilson. Debicki will play Jordan Baker.
Production on the AUS$120 million ($126 million) feature got underway at Fox Studios Australia on Monday with sound stages and locations in Sydney to be transformed into glittering Jazz Age New York and Long Island.
Warner Bros Pictures, which is backing the film, said Luhrmann will “create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before."
That includes, according to local reports, shipping in a fleet of vintage cars, for the shoot from Volo Auto Museum in Illinois, including a pair of 1929 Duesenbergs and a 1929 Packard, to be used by DiCaprio's character and rumored to be worth up to $3 million each.
For his part, Luhrmann, who is directing as well as co-writing, co-producing and co-designing through his Bazmark Films shingle, said, “Fitzgerald’s story defies time and geography. The vision and the goal of our remarkable cast and creatives is to do justice to the deftness of Fitzgerald’s telling, and illuminate its big ideas and humanity. This is our challenge and our adventure.”
“The opportunity to make the film in Australia with the Bazmark creative team is very important to us; the assistance from Screen Australia and the [New South Wales] Government has made that possible,” he added.
The feature will reportedly qualify for the Australian government’s producer offset that gives a rebate of up to 40% of a features budget on qualifying Australian productions. The NSW state government has provided financing under its enhanced film investment fund.
Luhrmann is producing, along with Catherine Martin, Catherine Knapman, Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick. The executive producers are Barrie M. Osborne and Bruce Berman.
Lurhmann has written the screenplay, from F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, with longtime writing partner Craig Pearce, while his collaborator, and wife, Catherine Martin is doing production and costume design.
The editors are Jason Ballantine, Matt Villa and Jonathan Redmond, and the director of photography is Simon Duggan.
Filming will take place over 17 weeks, with over 400 cast and crew estimated to take part, with another 30 weeks to be spent on post-production,  also to be done in Sydney.
The film will be distributed in 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Cheyenne Jackson and his longtime partner have tied

Cheyenne Jackson and his longtime partner have tied the knot!
"It's official, after 11 years together, Zora's no longer a bastard," the Glee and 30 Rock actor tweeted Saturday after marrying Monte Lapka in the Hamptons. "Married the best man I've ever known."
In case you're wondering who "Zora" is, it's the couple's dog, who Jackson referred to as their "daughter" when he described who would attend his dream wedding, in an interview with NBC New York.
"My dream wedding involves just close friends and good music…Our dog would be there," Jackson said. "Our dog, our daughter, Zora....Pretty boring, but something just nice and on the beach."
Back in October 2010 when Jackson gave the interview, he wasn't legally allowed to wed his partner in New York. However, that changed when the New York state senate passed the Marriage Equality Act in June.

Anna Kendrick in Talks to Star in Romantic Comedy 'Pitch Perfect'

The project will be directed by Jason Moore (Avenue Q) and is based on the nonfiction book written by GQmagazine's Mickey Rapkin.
Rebel Wilson, one of the breakouts of Bridesmaids, is already cast in the project, which revolves around a goth-like and rebellious student (Kendrick), unhappy to be at a school at which her father is a professor, who discovers her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group.
The modestly-budgeted pic is to being shooting this fall in New Orleans. Sources caution that Kendrick’s deal is still in the early stages.
The role could serve a nice 180 for Kendrick, who has made a name for herself playing self-assured Type A personalities. She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Up In the Air, played the high-achieving human best friend of Bella in the Twilight movies and was last seen as the goal-oriented sister of Scott Pilgrim in Scott Pilgrim vs the World.
